hot

Good afternoon,

It is hot out, please find some tips to stay cool and remember to check on your neighbors, family and friends. As a reminder the town provides cooling centers as needed in heat emergencies. If you are having difficulties, please call the non-emergency number at the Easton Police Department at 203-268-4111.

  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of liquids even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration.
  • If your home is extremely hot, take cool showers or spritz yourself with cool water.
  • Keep curtains, awnings and blinds closed during the day.

So far, we have avoided severe thunderstorms but power outages are always a possibility at this time of year so please review your plans should you lose power. Storm preparation information is available at https://www.eastonct.gov/selectmen/pages/storm-response-and-preparation

The latest variant of the Covid 19 virus appears to be extremely contagious. Fortunately, vaccinated people do not seem to get very sick but due to the very high volume of cases it is leading to an increase in hospitalizations, nowhere near peaks but still rising. The current CDC recommendations are 5 days of quarantine from testing positive and if asymptomatic with no fever no retest is required but you should wear a mask for an additional 5 days around others. However, these are guidelines and they change frequently so check the CDC website frequently for updates. Also, if you test positive you should discuss with your doctor whether you should start anti-viral medication.

At last night's Board of Selectmen meeting we discussed the conservation easement for South Park Ave. The plan is to have a draft ready before our next meeting on August 4th
