9/22/2023 A Message from First Selectman Bindelglass

Welcome Autumn

Good afternoon,

In a town in New England, known for its trees, nothing is more beautiful than the fall with the changing leaves. Our town becomes even more beautiful than normal. It also becomes busy as people flock here to enjoy our farms and open space. Please be careful with the increased traffic, but enjoy the autumn.

For those of you who were able to attend, there was a wonderful turn out for the EMS fireworks display which was spectacular. Families came and tailgated and everybody had a wonderful time. The actual fireworks were nothing short of spectacular. This is for a great cause. Thank you to our Emergency Medical Services who provide service to the town which we could not live without.

The Conservation Commission has recently developed a new loop trail within the Morehouse open space property. Take the gravel drive toward the soccer fields, go left to the Department of Public Works gate, and you will find the entrance and the map showing the new trail. https://www.eastonct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif3071/f/pages/would_you_like_to_explore_hiking_in_easton_0.pdf  Dogs on a leash are allowed but please pick up after them. Enjoy another Easton gem! Remember that dogs are not allowed on our fields.

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the presentation of the Anne Lindquist library spirit award, again. The new date is October 14, 2023 from 3 – 5pm.

Aspetuck Health District and the Weston Volunteer Fire Department are having a free car seat safety at 52 Norfield Road, Weston on September 29 from 10 – 2. To book your appointment, please email carseats@ynhh.org by 9/28/23.

Flu shots will be offered for adults at the Easton Senior Center on Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 12 from 7:00am-2:00pm.  You must call for an appointment (203) 268-1145 and bring your insurance ID to the appointment.

Last night we had a presentation from Aquarion about their services. It highlighted their partnership with towns and their role in watershed protection and drinking water quality among many other topics. The presentation is available at https://www.eastonct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif3071/f/pages/2023_eastonct_valueofwater_presentation_sep2023_draft.pdf

Starting on Monday, September 25 the government will again be offering free COVID-19 tests. For more information, please go to www.covidtests.gov

Lastly, we expect a weekend of heavy rain. Please be careful.

Have a great weekend,
