In light of the recent issues regarding the ground water contamination around the Easton Village Store, I thought it would be prudent to publish a link to the Department of Energy and Environmental protection guidelines for testing residential wells, https://portal.ct.gov/DPH/Environmental-Health/Private-Well-Water-Program/Private-Well-Testing Through the Fire Marshal’s office, we continue to work with DEEP and the environmental consultant hired by EVS on required monitoring and potential mitigation plans.
Our region’s transportation planning entity (MetroCOG) is developing the 2023-2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan for our region. This plan is federally required and guides how transportation funding is spent for the towns in our region. You can help shape how this plan identifies opportunities to improve mobility for people in Easton and throughout the region, from 2023 to 2050, by participating in a brief survey available at https://bit.ly/travel-2050 until November 1, 2022. A Special Town Meeting will be held on September 6, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Board of Finance meeting at the Easton Senior Center, 650 Morehouse Road, to discuss and approve the 2022 E-Citation Grant.
Eason EMS has been monitoring the situation for the upcoming Fireworks display on September 10, 2022, at Samuel Staples Elementary School/Morehouse Fields (gates open at 5:00pm). Visit eastonems.com for further information and updates. Easton EMS has been in constant contact with the Easton Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal. Weather information is looked at daily, for the rain forecast. As we approach September 10th it appears right now that it will rain in the morning, which would be a tremendous help. It appears at this time we will be going ahead with the fireworks. Out of an abundance of caution we are working with the Parks Department and the Highway Department to cut any tall and dead grass in the area. Also, we are working closely with the Easton Fire Department who will provide standby services with their volunteers to make sure that there is no fire danger.
The states forest fire index is extremely high. Please refrain from any outside fires, this includes fire pits, charcoal grills, until conditions improve. If you see a brush fire or smoke in the woods please call 911 immediately.
The Flu Clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Easton Public Library Community Room. Please note the only vaccine available at this time is high dose. If the regular dose becomes available prior to September 13th, we will administer, however, if not, we will plan to come back to provide to Easton residents at a later date. Town Offices will be closed on Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day.
