The Town Clerk’s office be open from 8:30am-4:30pm daily no longer closing for lunch beginning Monday, September 19th.
Last night at the Selectmen’s meeting I provided an update regarding EVS. The environmental consultant has completed the first phase of their evaluation and submitted it to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. This was done by the date DEEP requested and DEEP has acknowledged receipt of the report. There is a second phase of testing with monitoring wells which is also necessary and DEEP is aware of the consultant’s timetable for those wells. Based on sampling results from those wells, DEEP will make recommendations on potential remediation. The health department will be testing the wells of the fire department and EMS early next week. Regarding the EVS well, the environmental consultant said, “The water supply well for the 440 Sport Hill Road Site is located approximately 65 feet southeast for the former underground storage tank grave. This water supply well services the Easton Village Store. Monthly testing results are available between January 2020 and June 2022 when the Easton Village Store closed. Although the parameter analyzed are limited, no unusual characteristics were reported. The water was considered potable”.
The Conservation restriction for South Park Ave. was also discussed and a final version was approved. The town will hold a special town meeting to discuss and then a referendum vote will take place. The dates for those events will be announced by the next Selectmen’s meeting. The updated restriction is posted on the town website.
Yesterday, I met with the Senior Center leadership. We discussed the latest CDC guidance regarding COVID. We agreed that the Seniors still represent a vulnerable population, and as such we will continue to ask those who work at and visit the center to observe a higher level of precautions. This will be a fluid situation and I will continue to work with Val to be fair to all, but also do our best to keep people safe. The Senior Center has done a remarkable job throughout the pandemic to continue to provide vital services to our seniors and to do it safely, a very delicate balance.
