11/18/22 A Message from First Selectman Bindelglass
Good afternoon,
Last night at the Board of Selectmen meeting, we set the agenda for the December 5th, Special Town Meeting. We will be discussing and voting on revisions to the Ethics Ordinance which are still being finalized, the new fee schedule for planning and zoning and approving the expenditure of $244,000 which covers the remaining cost of redoing the tennis courts at Helen Keller and lining them for pickle ball. The $244,000 will be reimbursed through a grant that we secured from the state. Lastly, there be a vote to accept the Conservation Restriction on the remaining South Park Ave. property which the town required the Selectmen to draft. There was a spirited discussion regarding the actual wording of this question and I will discuss further as we get closer. This Conservation Restriction will be adjourned to a machine vote at Samuel Staples Elementary School on December 13th, from 6:00am to 8:00pm.
Fairfield County has experienced a number of break-ins recently and Easton has had several, all in the Easton Woods neighborhood. The Easton Police Department has stepped up patrols and is working with other local departments. This is extremely concerning and the department is, of course, committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe. From Chief Doyle, a couple of recommendations based on what they have seen. PLEASE report ANY suspicious activity to the Police Department, no matter how insignificant you may think it is. If you have a burglar alarm make a habit of arming it whenever you leave the house. Keep your valuables hidden and if you have a safe, make sure it is bolted down because otherwise it can just be carried out. We will continue to keep you posted on this situation.

The Senior Center prepared over 100 holiday baskets through the generous donations of many of our town residents, students and the turkey trot items provided by Samuel Staples Elementary School. The baskets were distributed with the help of the Park and Recreation Department to those experiencing food insecurity within Fairfield County. Thank you all!
Just a reminder that the hazardous waste collection day is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at 307 Indian Ledge Park Drive next to BMX facility. Easton residents may participate and will be required to show their CT Driver’s License.
