Good afternoon,
We were all saddened to hear of the passing of Jane Paley Price who has been a big contributor to the Easton Courier, with her wonderful articles and photos. She will be missed.
There were two great events at the Easton Senior Center this week; a breakfast honoring our veterans, and a wonderful presentation by our detective Kent Lyman on scams which particularly target seniors. Don’t’ forget that the senior center Holiday boutique is ongoing.
On Sunday, December 3rd, the Easton Public Library is sponsoring their annual craft fair and tree lighting ceremony from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The tree lighting will take at approximately 5:15. There will be kids’ activities, a holiday sing-along, cookies and hot chocolate and much more. It is a great beginning to the holiday season. Please come stop by. Also, volunteers are needed during the afternoon, please call the library at 203-261-0134 If you can help.
Easton Garden Club Annual Wreath & Poinsettia Sale is now open: Each year the Easton Garden Club hosts the https://www.eastongardenclubofct.org/wreathsale to fund activities that benefit our Easton Community. The catalog of what the Club is offering this year can be found here: www.eastongardenclubofct.org/wreathsale, including double wreaths, roping, Poinsettia, and winter seed sowing kits. The sale is open until Nov. 21st for pre-paid order and scheduled curbside pickup on November 29 between 1-6 pm at the Easton Public Library community room courtyard.
Last night at the board of selectmen we welcomed new selectman Nicholas D’Addario. We discussed protections for boards and commissions members. They are covered by the town’s insurance policy and we will make that information more available so that those who volunteer to serve our town will know that they are protected. We also discussed that there should be a well-defined pathway for citizens who want to serve our town by volunteering for boards and commissions, but do not want to go through either political town committee to be nominated. Anyone with such an interest in serving can reach out directly to the first selectman’s office. Information on this process and insurance coverage will be posted on the town website next week and I will publish the link to that information in my next post. We thank all who have stepped up to help carry out the business of our town, and appreciate their dedication and commitment. It is impossible to run a small town like ours without their help.
