10/29/21 A Message from First Selectman Bindelglass

Vote

Good afternoon,

Our Covid numbers remain excellent with only 10 new cases for the 2 weeks ending October 23, one of the lowest levels in the state. Again, this is testimony to our ability to be good neighbors and look out for each other.  That allows us to walk freely through town buildings without masks. We have also increased the capacity for meetings in the library community room to 50.

The energy and environment task force just learned about  an  opportunity, sponsored by United Illuminating. If you have a second, inefficient refrigerator or freezer in your garage or basement, you can recycle it at no cost and receive a $75 rebate. Visit this link for details:

You can call UI's contractor, ARCA, to schedule a pickup: 888-997-8892 or schedule online at https://www.arcaincutility.com/CT/energize/. Have your electricity account number handy. (Note that the ARCA website incorrectly states an 11/30 deadline. The deadline to schedule a pickup is 10/31.)

The main topic on everyone’s mind is the municipal election on November 2.   Please make sure you get out and vote. If this is the first time you are voting in a municipal election, Easton welcomes you to our “Jewel of Fairfield County”.   Please realize that this is a small town and as a result your vote carries significant weight.  Hoping to see everyone at the polls, Tuesday November 2, from 6AM to 8PM at Samuel Staples Elementary School!  There is Election Day registration near the polls at Samuel Staples Elementary. Bring an ID.

Finally, Sunday is Halloween. There is trunk or treat on Sunday at Samuel Staples at 5:30 sponsored by The Lion’s Club, Girl Scouts, Easton Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, and Easton Park and Recreation. It is a wonderful event. For more info go to:

 https://www.eastonct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif3071/f/news/2021_easton_trunk_or_treat.jpg.

There are many wonderful neighborhoods to trick or treat in as well.  Please be safe.

Best,

Dave
