Good afternoon
We are all shocked and saddened by the events which took place in Bristol this week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to that department and the families of the slain officers. No town is exempt from the possibility of such atrocity and that should serve as a reminder of how lucky Easton is to have such a dedicated and caring group of officers. This is a particularly good time to do what we should be doing every day and thank them for their outstanding service. Also, they are among the many, many fine folks who serve us and we are blessed to have all of them.
To update you on the situation at EVS, monitoring wells are being dug as was mandated by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. At the last Board of Selectmen meeting Steve Montgomery pointed out the location of the material which could be found on the DEEP website regarding the handling of the contamination. The link is https://filings.deep.ct.gov/DEEPDocumentSearchPortal/ There are eight or so separate fields to fill in but you only need to enter the town and the address in order for the full history to come up, don’t worry about the other fields.
Absentee Ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s office for the November 8, 2022 State Election. The Flu Clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25th from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Easton Public Library Community Room. To schedule your appointment, please call 203-227-9571 x241. Insurances accepted are Medicare B, Aetna, Cigna, Connecticare. The necessary paperwork and self-pay cost information can be found on wwhd.org.
Halloween is coming! There are so many wonderful Fall and Halloween activities that you can find at our farms. It is well worth visiting them.
On Saturday, October 29th the Easton Park & Rec Dept, Cemetery Committee, and Christ Church are holding a 5K and Festival for the Town of Easton. The day will start with a 5K walk/run starting and ending at Christ Church. Runners will enjoy a beautiful course on North Park Avenue while enjoying the fall foliage and learning historic facts along the way! On site, there will be pumpkin decorating, face painting, a fun run and shuttle run for kids 12& under so please bring the family! Halloween Story Time (Ages 3-7),Saturday, October 29th @ 2:00 PM
In connection with Easton’s Free Spirit Festival, we will host a fun and spooky story time with a craft.
The Annual Trunk or Treat and Bonfire hosted by the Redding Girl Scouts, The Lions Club and Easton Park & Rec will take place on Monday, October 31st at 5:30pm at Samuel Staples. Please come join the fun!
On Saturday, October 29th from 10am-2pm at Samuel Staples Elementary School the Town will host an Electronics and Prescription Drug Take Back Event.
