08/27/2021 Message from the First Selectman

BRIDGE

Good afternoon,

What a relief that Henri did not make a bigger impact on our area.  It is the nature of storms to bob and weave, and sometimes where it is tracking, is not where it ends up.  Always a good idea to be prepared. It looks like we will be getting a bit of relief from the heat this weekend!

This week, the South Park Avenue Bridge beams were installed and progress continues in a timely fashion. We are hoping to wrap this up before winter!

Schools will be starting very soon and we hope to have an effortless beginning to the 2021-2022 school year. Excitement always ensues when the first day of school approaches COVID numbers continue to rise. For the week ending August 21, there were 10 confirmed COVID cases and 13 the previous week. We are still one of a number of towns in Connecticut the red.

Plans are still in the works for the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. A Special Town Meeting is scheduled for September 14th, the agenda will be set at this week’s Special Board of Selectmen meeting on Wednesday, September 1st.  Also, Easton EMS is planning a 75th Anniversary fireworks extravaganza for September 18th following the 2nd Annual Easton Town Party from 1pm – 7 pm the same day.  Again, more details to follow.

Our hearts go out to the U.S. troops and the people of Afghanistan following the Kabul Airport attack.

Have a safe weekend.
