A Message from First Selectman Bindelglass

Good afternoon,

It is heartwarming to see some of our pastime events returning to town this summer. Easton is a wonderful place in the summer where sunny days give way to warm nights that can be spent listening to music or enjoying a cookout with friends and neighbors.  As the growing season kicks into high gear, our farms are booming. For many of our new residents this is the first whole summer in Easton. The Easton Volunteer Fireman’s Carnival is a real treat and is returning this year for its 80th year and will run from August 3rd through August 7th!  There has been interest expressed in converting the Easton175 website into a resource to list and advertise local events and happenings. 

We have begun the process of filling two positions in Town Hall.  The Building Inspector and Zoning Enforcement Officer positions will be posted. Thanks to Easton resident and Building Official, Peter Howard who has been doing building inspections aided by Nicole Costantino who continues to receive and process new applications. Please visit the Building Department page on our website for permit applications to hasten the process along. They are keeping up with all requests for permitting and inspections in a timely fashion, but it is exactly that, a process so please have patience.

The design for replacing part of the roof at the old Samuel Staples School, now Easton Country Day, is in the works. When the design is done, we will go to bid for a contractor.

The Easton Diversity and Inclusion Task Force (EDIT) is sponsoring a Juneteenth Celebration at the Morehouse Fields on Saturday, June 19th from 1 PM to 4 PM.  This is a free event with live music and guest speakers and crafts.

Today, we planted a Hawthorn tree outside of Town Hall in memory of our late Building Inspector, Tony Ballaro who passed away suddenly in late May.  Donations were collected from employees and a few residents to make this happen.  A huge thank you to the guys from Public Works and Dick Dina, our Tree Warden who planted the tree this morning.
