On Monday October 23rd at 7:30pm, there will be a vigil in support of Israel and peace in the Middle East at the Gazebo at the Morehouse fields. Rabbi Evan Schultz of Temple B’nai Israel in Bridgeport has graciously agreed to lead the vigil. Please join us.

At last night’s selectmen meeting, the property at 422 Sport Hill Rd was again discussed. I will compile a folder of all permits and certificates relevant to that property and post on the town website.

Absentee Ballots are available and MUST BE RECEIVED no later than 8:00pm on the day of the election, November 7, 2023.  Once you have completed your ballot, you can either deposit in the Official Drop Box or return in person to the Town Clerk's Office which is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Union Cemetery Event is rescheduled for Sunday, October 22nd.  With more rain in the forecast for this Saturday, Michael Carroll of Rediscovering History, Inc has generously offered to reschedule Saturday’s Union Cemetery Preservation Workshop to Sunday morning. Sunday’s event will begin at 10:00 AM and be limited to a single expanded session. All Saturday tickets will be honored on Sunday, and those who cannot attend the rescheduled event are eligible for a refund. Further details are available on the Historical Society of Easton’s website: https://historical-society-of-easton.yapsody.com/event/index/783505/union-cemetery-workshop The HSE requests participants to park on the western edge of the cemetery grounds along Sport Hill Road or closer to the western gate off of Stepney Road so as not to interfere with the church services of the Black Rock Church at the eastern end of the cemetery.

Please call for to make an appointment 203-268-1137.  Avangrid is coming for an energy event to the Senior Center on October 26th from 10:00am-1:00pm (residents can come at any time between those hours) and anyone who receives energy from UI or SCG is welcome to come and ask them questions about savings programs that may be available to them. It is beneficial for those coming to bring recent electric and heating bills as they could help them apply for the savings programs on site if they are eligible. 

On October 26th from 10:00am-11:30am, in the community room of the Easton Public Library there will be a Climate, Coffee & Conversation with Lawmakers sponsored by the Connecticut league of conservation voters (CTLCV). CTCLV is a nonprofit, bipartisan organization working to protect the environment in Connecticut.  This free event is designed to provide a unique opportunity for people to engage in meaningful discussions with lawmakers. Hosted by CTLCV, the idea is to offer an opportunity for open dialogue between constituents over a cup of coffee, to foster a deeper understanding of environmental issues and work towards innovative solutions.  If you have any questions, please email ctlcv@ctlcv.org or call Julianna at 860-236-5442.

Bring the kids for trick or treat at Easton Town Hall on Tuesday, October 31st, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Immediately following, the ever-popular trunk or treat and bonfire will begin at 5:30pm on Tuesday, October 31st at SSES/Morehouse fields.  If you are interested in signing up your trunk, please email eastontrunkortreat@gmail.com.  This event is free. Candy donations will be accepted at the Park & Recreation office or the Extended Day Program (Room 139 @ SSES) through October 30th.

On Thursday, November 2nd, Comptroller Sean Scanlon is coming to discuss the state’s new Prescription Drug Discount Card Program, ArrayRx. This presentation will take place from 10:00am-10:45am at the Easton Senior Center. Those interested, please call Daniel Simonelli, Municipal Agent for the Aging at 203-268-1137 to sign up.

The Easton Senior Center will be offering adults Flu, COVID, RSV, Shingles and Pneumonia shots on Tuesday, November 14th from 11:00am-3:00pm. Please call for an appointment to avoid wait time at (203) 268-1145 and bring your insurance ID to the appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.
