Marriage Licenses

Please call the Town Clerk's office at (203) 268-6291 to schedule an appointment when you have completed the Marriage License Worksheet and have met all of the requirements.
Important:  When applying for a marriage license, both parties need to appear in-person at the Town Clerk's office.

Instructions for completing Marriage License Worksheet:

  • Must apply for license in town in which the wedding ceremony is to take place (Date and Location must be determined prior to applying for license).
  • Spouses must both personally appear before the Town Clerk before license is issued.
  • Name of Officiant and contact information is required. 
    (As of October 1, 2015, Public Act 15-74 goes into effect. This public act removes the requirement that an ordained minister "continue in the work of the ministry" in order to be authorized to perform marriages. Therefore, anyone who has become ordained, either through a traditional religious organization or on-line, is authorized to perform marriages. The officiator will sign the marriage license after the ceremony and return the marriage license to the Easton Town Clerk’s office.  (Couples are not allowed to return the completed marriage license to the Town Clerk’s office)
  • Photo identification is required.
  • License is valid for 65 days from date of application.
  • Fee: $50.00 (cash or check payable to “Town of Easton”)
  • Fee for Certified Copy: $20.00 (cash or check payable to “Town of Easton”)
  • Hours of issuance: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm 
  • The above are State of Connecticut requirements. Refer to CGS §46b-24 to 46b-35.
