It is with great sadness that we observe the passing of John Solomon III who served as Easton’s Chief of Police for 17 years, retiring in 2012. He did so much for our town and our thoughts are with his family.
United Illuminating and Southern CT gas have informed us of the following: The Emergency Moratorium which began during 2020 will end on May 02, 2024. This means that customers who are behind on their energy bills and are not enrolled in an assistance program will be subject to service disconnection as of 05/02/2024. Disconnection can be avoided if you call to make arrangements for your past due balance. Financial Hardship and Medically Protected customers enrolled in a financial assistance program or in a Flexible Payment Arrangement and who continue to make their required payments will not be disconnected. Customers can still claim Financial Hardship after May 2nd to be enrolled in a financial assistance program. Hardship documentation will need to be provided to avoid service termination. UI and SCG have performed outreach to at risk customers through multiple channels (mail, email, and outbound phone calls). Impacted customers can visit us online or call us for more information or to make a payment at any time. In partnership with the Food Cycle Science Corporation, residents of Easton will have the opportunity to pilot an on-site food waste diversion solution that will reduce food waste at the source, limiting what is heading to our landfill. The town is offering exclusive pricing for the FoodCycler machines. The FoodCycler becomes a permanent addition to your household, and we kindly request participants to tract their diverted food waste over the 12-week pilot period, contributing valuable data to shape our future waste management strategies. DEA National Rx Take Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Easton Police Department. Turn in unneeded medication for safe disposal.
On April 27, from 10:00am to 1:00pm there will be a touch a truck event to raise money for our sister city of Sviatohirsk, Ukraine. There will be a food truck, games, raffle and plenty of trucks to view and explore.

Learn what could be hiding in plain sight on a kid or teen's smartphone. Officer Marsh will take a deep dive into the world of smartphone apps, and their hidden uses. This presentation was created to give parents, guardians, and anyone else caring for school-aged children (from 3rd grade through high school) the guidance and resources they need to make informed decisions about their child’s cellular phone use.
The Electronics Recycling Event will take place on Saturday, May 4th from 10:00am-2:00pm at Samuel Staples Elementary School. Also, on Saturday, May 4th from 11:00am-1:00pm will be the Easton Electric Car Show at SSES. Both events are sponsored by the Easton Energy & Environmental Task Force.
