The Special Town Meeting for the Town of Easton will be held on March 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Samuel Staples Elementary School, 515 Morehouse Road, Easton with Public Hearing immediately following. The agenda and documentation for the town meeting can be found on the website home page.
Absentee Ballots for the April 2, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary will be available staring on Tuesday March 12, 2024. More information can be found here at https://www.eastonct.gov/home/news/absentee-ballots-for-the-presidential-preference-primary-will-be-available-starting-on.

Please join the Connecticut Clean Communities on Sunday, March 24th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Easton EMS, 448 Sport Hill Road to commemorate World Water Day by safeguarding our local watershed and cleaning up harmful waste along our reservoirs. The Board of Finance discussed funding for the NEST project at Joel Barlow. The town previously approved a bond floated by the Region 9 Board of Education for $4.5 million for a second turf field and a new locker/meeting room at the high school stadium. The turf field has been completed and has been in use since the beginning of the school year, benefitting both the high school and local youth groups. Because of some challenges with waste water management the building part of the project appears to be underfunded by $300,000. Redding’s proposed solution was to contribute funds from their ARPA money to fund the difference but only if Easton matches them. Our ARPA money is already committed to the EMS renovation and the Boards of Finance and Selectmen question whether this is an appropriate use of those funds anyway. We propose that private donations which have been received in addition to others that have been committed, should be combined with funding from the Region 9 capital budget to complete the project. I expressed my belief that our town is committed to funding and seeing the completion of the project and that the appropriate way to fund it is for both towns to pay their fair share in the same way that all other region expenses are paid, through the normal budgetary process.
