I Want to Vote! (Flowchart to assist voters for voter registration and absentee ballots)

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all registered voters in Connecticut are able to vote absentee in the November 3, 2020 election. Secretary of the State Denise Merrill mailed every active, registered voter in the State of Connecticut an Absentee Ballot Application (pre-filled with voter information and bar code). This application from the State includes a postage paid return envelope. In order to obtain an absentee ballot, voters may choose to fill out and return this application from the State OR complete an application available on our website. Per the Secretary of State's office, the ability to vote absentee will ensure that the democratic process continues safely and securely.

Voting absentee is a two-step process:
(1) A voter completes an absentee ballot application (either the one sent from the State or the fillable form available on the town website) and returns it to the Town Clerk via the Official Drop Box, US Mail or mailing service (FedEx, UPS, etc.). Voters must complete and return an application to be eleigible to receive an absentee ballot.
*All voters who previously completed and sent an application to the Town Clerk may also receive an additional application from the Secretary of the State (SOTS). Please note that you DO NOT need to complete this additional application if you have already submitted one.

(2) The application is processed and the Town Clerk mails a ballot to the voter at the address specified on the application. The ballot MUST be returned to the Town Clerk via the Official Drop Box, US Mail or mailing service (FedEx, UPS, etc.) by Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (Election Day) by 8:00pm

The Town of Easton has a secure Official Drop Box, located across the street from the Easton Police Department along the sidewalk to the Easton Public Library. This drop box is available 24/7 for deposit of Absentee Ballot Applications and Ballots ONLY. This location will allow voters to park in the library parking lot and deliver their absentee ballot applications to the Town Clerk by way of the secure drop box in a prompt, efficient and contactless processt. Only the Town Clerk office has access to this drop box, and it will be checked frequently in an effort to process applications in a timely manner.

Ballots will begin to be mailed October 2, 2020 to all those who have properly completed and submitted an application. The ballot, which will be sent via U.S. Postal Service, will  include a postage paid return envelope. The secure drop box is also available for drop off of your absentee ballot 24/7.
