Good evening,

As unusual as this summer has been, it is coming to an end this weekend. Monday is Labor Day. Unfortunately, we celebrate this day at a time when 13 million Americans are unemployed, largely as a result of the Pandemic. As I continually try to emphasize we are not immune in Easton from what is going on around us. Prior to the start of the Pandemic there was an average of 50 unemployed people in Easton.  Although better than at our peak, we are now at 270 unemployed in town. Please keep that in mind, and we wish for the best for those who are affected.  As a community we should as always be generous to our neighbors.

Tuesday will also mark the beginning of school. A number of people in the Central Office, and our administrators, and Board of Education members have worked tirelessly to make this day a reality, I personally extend my thanks to them all. We recognize that there is tremendous angst about the start of school. There is still a lot that we do not know about this virus and as a result we do not know exactly how things will play out. I have great respect for our teachers and understand the uncertainties surrounding going back into the class to teach our children. My focus has always been on our children, and I understand that this is still challenging for them and their families. Be aware if your child is anxious much more so than probably any other year! I believe that we will succeed in beginning to bring some much deserved normalcy back into their lives. Most importantly, I have faith that we will all pull together to be vigilant and responsible and make this work for our town. Please be aware that the start of school means school buses and traffic and much more travel on our roads. PLEASE be careful.

Today, Easton took possession of our newest fire truck, Engine 4. For a small town, this is a happy and exciting event.  It is bright and shiny and I got to ride in it!!!

All in all it should be a beautiful weekend. We still need to be careful and do all the things we talk about every week; to social distance, wear our masks and wash our hands. For school to go smoothly this is more important than it has been even up to now.

Have a wonderful weekend and be safe!
