Happy Thanksgiving

Good afternoon,

The state has released new Covid numbers. Easton has 19 new cases for the two weeks ending November 20. That is a rate of 18 per 100,000, and places us in the red category.  The state positivity rates, hospitalization, and rates are elevated or rising. Since no public buildings will be open until Monday we will take the weekend to reevaluate and consult with our neighbors. We will discuss possible changes at that time. I would urge you to be thoughtful about your holiday plans. I am not saying anyone should change their plans. Just that you should think about what is best for you and your loved ones.

Last night’s forum on affordable housing state law was well attended. There was a spirited discussion with our legislators and planning and zoning chair. I appreciate their time in putting this on. Last night’s focus was on the requirements from the state that we must fulfill. There will be other forums and hearings to formulate the plan we must submit next year.  The tape of the forum is available at https://fb.watch/9ulGdcpNKy/ and will also be posted on the website next week.

We hope to have a ribbon cutting for the South Park Avenue bridge next week. We also hope to complete construction on Morehouse road as well. Thank you to our hard working DPW and the contractors working on these projects.

Get a head start on holiday shopping. The Easton Senior Center is holding their annual Holiday Boutique now through December 22nd from 9 – 3. You can also help support Ovarian Cancer patients by purchasing Poinsettia’s at www.clearity.org/holidayplants  Pick-up date is December 4th in Fairfield.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and in Easton we have so much to be thankful for in our beautiful town. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.  Sunday night is the beginning of Hanukkah for those who celebrate. Have a happy Hanukkah.

Enjoy the long weekend,

Dave
