The Board of Assessment Appeals meets with the public during the months of March, for Real Estate & Personal Property. Appeals are heard in September for Motor Vehicles.
Tax payers by State Statute must file a form prescribed by law no later than February 20th in order to appeal their assessment, unless there is an extension.
In order to receive an appointment with the Board of Assessment Appeals a taxpayer needs to call the Assessors' office to ask for an application which must be submitted and received in the office no later than February 20th.
The Taxpayer or their agent must appear before the board at one of the meetings, or they will not be heard.
All of these sessions are held under the direction of the State Statutes, by which the Board of Assessment Appeals also receives its authority.
